Stade Michelin

Social Afternoon: Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 1:30 PM

There are so many things to do around Clermont-Ferrand that we had trouble choosing. So... we decided to let you do the work. We offer no less than 13 activities for Wednesday afternoon. We invite you to make several first choices, several second choices, and several third choices by holding down the “Ctrl” key with each selection.

First choice = I would be thrilled to do these activities.

Second choice = I would be very happy to do these activities.

Third choice = I would be happy to do these activities.

Due to capacity restrictions on certain activities and buses, we ask that you provide us with at least three activity choices (all of which can be first choices). If you wish to relax and not participate in any activities, please indicate “no activity” for all three choices.

Finally, if you plan to bring a companion, they will automatically be assigned to the same activity as you.

I- Activities in Clermont-Ferrand:

1) Visit to l’Aventure Michelin: Michelin is tires, of course, the Bibendum, obviously, and the little green guide too... but... not only that...

More information (spoiler alert) here: https://laventure.michelin.com/

Practical information: A guided group tour will be offered. You can also choose to visit at your own pace and independently.

2) Relaxation at the RoyaTonic thermal spa center: Are you expecting a mental overheat at the beginning of the week? You’ll be able to balance the temperature across the rest of your body and enjoy some well-deserved rest while relaxing at the Royatonic center.

More information here: https://www.royatonic.com/

Practical information: two-hour of free swimming time. Please note that while swim caps are not mandatory, swim trunks are prohibited.

3) A city tour in escape game mode: Discover the secrets of Clermont-Ferrand, equipped with your “game equipment” in a life-size escape game.

Practical information: Meet at Place de la Victoire for instructions and other information. Allow around 2 hours for the activity.

More information here: https://lesarcanesdelacite.fr/

4) Petanque tournaments on Place du Salin: Like a native of southern Clermont, come and try your hand at hitting the jack on Place des Salins.

Practical information: Meet at Bar Le Break, 16 Avenue Marx Dormoy (tram stop Maison de la Culture), our partner for this activity. Boules will be provided and you can enjoy the bar's amenities.

II- Activities around the Puy de Dôme (and beyond)

Puy de Dôme

II-A The Puy de Dôme

The Puy de Dôme (and its antenna) is a bit like the garden of the Clermont-Ferrand's residents. Don't tell them it's extinct; just that it's dormant (that will make them a little happier)... We offer the Puy de Dôme à la carte with the following activities:

5) Hikes in Puy de Dôme (100% on foot). In the surrounding area. Accompanied by a member of the organizing team, we will offer hikes tailored to your level and preferences.

6) Descent of Puy de Dôme. To take your time and spare your legs, which will have been resting at the beginning of the week, we suggest you take the rack railway to the top of Puy de Dôme and then stroll down the mountain.

7) Descent of Puy de Dôme with a volcanologist guide. A mid-mountain guide (volcanologist) will guide you on the descent, providing explanations about geology and volcanism.

8) Enameling at Puy de Dôme (100% train and creative workshop): Enjoy a round trip on the rack railway. At the summit, you can admire the various panoramic views and take part in a lava-enameling workshop.

Practical information: Despite its modest altitude and gentle appearance, the Puy de Dôme is a mountain (yes, really). For hiking activities, it is important to wear suitable footwear (at least sneakers, if possible with soles thick enough for walking in the mountains). In addition, the Massif Central is the first natural barrier against adverse weather conditions coming from the west. The weather can therefore be unpredictable, so bring a light sweater (as your grandmother would say) and a windbreaker (even if the weather is fine in Clermont-Ferrand).

II-B And beyond...

9) Vulcania: Spend the afternoon in an amusement park dedicated to geology, volcanism, and natural phenomena. On the agenda: science and dragon rides.

More information here: https://www.vulcania.com/

10) Lemptegy: Visit the inside of a real volcano.

More information here: https://www.auvergne-volcan.com/

III- Auvergne with a difference

11) Robinson Crusoe Challenge: Auvergne is also about water (Volvic proverb). In partnership with the Lake Aydat Sailing School, we invite you to take part in three challenges: an orienteering race to collect materials; building a raft using the materials collected; and finally, a race on the lake in/on/under the boat you have built. Good humor and team spirit are required!

12) Walk/swim at Lake Aydat : Here we suggest a short, peaceful walk (5/6 km) around Lake Aydat (including beautiful views of the mountains and the lake), after which you can go swimming (if you've packed your swimsuit and towel), cheer on the brave participants in the Robinson Crusoe Challenge, or simply cool off on the terrace of one of Aydat's bars (if the weather thwarts your plans for swimming).

13) Visit to Murol Castle :  Put on your red mask and head to Murol Castle for a guided tour on the theme of cooking in the Middle Ages. If we have time, we can take a short break for some hands-on work in Saint-Nectaire on the way back.
